QS 9000 / ISO 9001 Certificate & ISO 14001 Certificate:

Rutland began the quest for QS - 9000 registration in March 1998 and the process took 17 months to complete. The tasks involved developing a quality manual, preparing documentation, employee training and internal auditing to the Standard. In August 1999, the company was assessed by BVQI, a third party auditor, and received registration to QS-9000/ISO 9001 in September 1999. To ensure the system is maintained we will be under surveillance bi-annually by BVQI.
QS-9000 is a quality management system that was developed by the Big 3 Automakers in an effort to harmonize their individual systems. QS- 9000 uses the 20 elements of ISO 9001:1994 as the foundation and provides for continuous improvement. The system emphasizes defect prevention and the reduction of variation and waste in the supply chain.

This registration is a requirement for doing business with the automotive industry and gives Rutland an edge over major competitors. Our internal benefits are greater control of the business and improved discipline resulting in consistency in our processes. Our external benefits are customer satisfaction and increased market share.

More recently, Rutland began certification for ISO 14001 - Environmental Management Systems in Q2 2002. A short 6 months later BVQI awarded certification to Rutland for this ever-important environmental system.

Rutland was one of the first US plastisol manufacturers to be both QS-9000 and ISO 9001 certified. We are now one of the only US plastisol manufacturers to achieve and maintain ISO 14001 certification. We are committed to maintaining the highest quality standards in the plastisol industry. We are driven by quality and our customers know it!

Rutland can certify only the flame resistance of the Rutland’s Flame Retarded plastisol product or the product if mixed with proper ratio of Flame Retardant additive and cannot guarantee that it will Flame Retard the textile article that it may be printed onto. Rutland cannot guarantee the Flame Retardancy of the plastisol if it has been modified, diluted or blended with other products before printing. The exception to this is the mixing of the proper ratio of Rutland's M00023 Flame Retardant Additive into the M2 and or Rutland's other opaque printing inks.
